On September 26, 2006 we were doing a 'hot' training session on our training area with approximately 800 liters solvent (Heptane). The target of that exercise was the correct cooling of flammable liquids and the correct recovery of gas bottles. I had just been coordinating with the front officer where to rescue the bottles as a splash of Heptane hit me on my back. Thanks to PBI, I had no serious injuries besides a hot back and a slightly singed ear. As the fire-fighting team did not take immediate action I 'fell prey' to the safeguard, who used his 12 kg powder extinguisher - but I can tell you it was all right with me. The protection of our instructors in our fire training school has a very high significance. By using PBI protective clothing one risk factor has been minimized massively.
