PBI fiber is now available in a lightweight, durable knit fabric specially engineered to provide comfortable protection from high-energy radiant-heat-loads. This ultra flame resistant fabric is designed to provide premium thermal protection from high levels of radiant heat as well as protection from conductive and convective heat present during proximity firefighting operations. Two examples of use are Airport Crash/Fire Rescue Suits and HAZMAT flash flame protection. This aluminized blend of PBI and high-strength Aramid fibers provide unmatched safety and comfort to airport and military firefighters, hazardous materials cleanup crews, and others who work in environments that contain bulk flammable risks.
